Spring 2023 Workshops
Nature Poetry at Effie Yeaw Nature Center
Join 916 Ink at Effie Yeaw Nature Center in Carmichael for a FREE walk with a naturalist followed by nature-inspired poetry! Enjoy the spring weather in the 100-acre nature preserve and learn about Sacramento plants and wildlife. Then, use what you’ve observed during guided writing time and have the opportunity to share your work. Each workshop is open to up to 15 writers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Note: This workshop will take place 100% outdoors—therefore, it’s important for participants to wear comfortable closed-toed shoes and pack sunscreen and a lunch. Most of the trail is wheelchair accessible.

SPOKEN WORD for self-care WITH COON THE POET
A “Pain to Power Poetry” workshop
Join 916 Ink with poet, author, and motivational speaker Coon the Poet for a day of powerful self-expression and writing! As part of this Spoken Healing “Pain to Power Poetry” workshop, learn elements of spoken word poetry while expressing yourself honestly and fully. You will write to multiple prompts and have the opportunity to share your work and receive positive feedback. This will be a safe and encouraging space for all! This workshop is open to up to 25 writers on a first-come, first-served basis.
Who Can Join: 6th-12th graders
When: Saturday, May 13, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
